Discover Pathways to Spiritual Growth

The Journey Towards Growth

Spiritual growth is a lifelong process of becoming more like Christ, shaped by God’s love and presence. As you grow, you begin to experience more of what Jesus modeled, a life of meaningful relationships, deep rest, and peace in both good and hard times. Without this growth, life can feel stagnant or disconnected. But as you’re formed by Christ, you grow into spiritual maturity, finding joy in God and the world around you (Ephesians 4:15–16).

How Spiritual Growth Unfolds Over Time

Your journey with God often unfolds in stages, much like human relationships do. As you grow in connection, your understanding and experience of God deepens over time. In his book When the Well Runs Dry, Thomas Green describes this journey through the lens of prayer, offering a helpful way to see how your relationship with God grows:

Courtship

This is a time of curiosity and discovery, getting to know God much like we get to know a new friend. We begin to explore who God is and what it means to walk in relationship with God.

Honeymoon

As your relationship with God deepens, simply being in God’s presence starts to feel like enough. Much like the early days of a meaningful relationship, there is a sense of comfort and closeness that doesn’t need words or activity. Just the joy of being together.

Marriage

Over time, this love matures into a deeper, more committed relationship. You are transformed by God’s love, learning to serve and live with intention, aligned with God’s purposes. Like a lasting marriage, this kind of love slowly shapes you into who you were created to be.

How Spiritual Practices Nurture Your Growth

Spiritual practices are simple ways we make room to connect with God. They help us slow down, become more attentive, and notice God’s presence woven into the details of our lives. Whether you’re just beginning to explore who God is, experiencing God’s presence more fully, or seeking transformation, these practices can deepen your relationship with Christ. Over time, these practices shape your heart and mind, helping you grow in love, trust, and purpose as we are gradually formed by the Holy Spirit.

Beginning with Simple Steps

Spiritual growth doesn’t require a perfect plan—just a willingness to begin. If you’re hoping to explore practices that create space for God in everyday life, these practices can help you take a gentle step forward:

Lectio Divina

A simple way to read Scripture slowly and prayerfully, helping you notice what God might be saying to you.

The Examen

A simple practice to help you look back on your day and become more aware of how God might be present in your everyday life.

Each offers a quiet space to slow down, listen, and be formed by God’s presence.
