Seeing God Through New Eyes

Service Description

We all carry an image of God — the picture in our minds and hearts of who God is and how he feels about us. Some of that image is rooted in Scripture. Other parts have been shaped by our experiences, disappointments, unanswered prayers, relationships, or the quiet conclusions we’ve drawn along the way. Often, we don’t realize what we have come to believe about God until it begins to shape how we pray, what we expect from God, or the parts of ourselves we hesitate to bring into his presence. Sometimes, going deeper in our relationship with God means paying attention to these places. The Listening Place offers a safe and welcoming space to do that without judgment or pressure to arrive at a particular answer. There may be assumptions that need to be reconsidered, disappointment that needs to be acknowledged, or places in our relationship with God that need care and repair. In this three-session journey, we’ll explore the image of God that shapes the way we relate to him, spend time SESSION ONE — Noticing the Story We Bring Together we’ll begin noticing the images of God we carry and how they quietly shape the way we pray, trust, and relate to him. Through Scripture, guided reflection, and conversation, we’ll create space to become more aware of what has been beneath the surface. SESSION TWO — Encountering God in Scripture We’ll spend time with biblical images of God’s character, allowing Scripture to deepen and expand the ways we have come to know him. Rather than simply studying ideas about God, we’ll prayerfully encounter the God who reveals himself. SESSION THREE — Listening for God Together Our final gathering creates space to reflect on what God has been revealing throughout the journey. Together we’ll listen deeply to one another, notice God’s presence, and discern one invitation to carry into the weeks ahead. OPTIONAL ADD-ON: Every journey with God is personal. While our gatherings create space to reflect together, some participants appreciate having additional time to explore what God has been revealing in their own lives. An individual spiritual direction session is available as an optional add-on for $50, offering a one-on-one space to reflect, pray, and listen for God’s invitation. To add an individual spiritual direction session, select the add-on during registration. After purchase, you’ll receive an email with a link to schedule your session. You may use your session anytime within one year of our final gathering.
